This is a small molecule drug which binds permanently to a protein, Bruton's tyrosine kinase (BTK), that is very crucial in B cells. The drug is recommended for treating certain conditions include:

  • Mantle Cell Lymphoma

  • Chronic/Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma

  • Chronic/Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma with 17p deletion

  • Waldenström’s Macroglobulinemia

  • Marginal Zone Lymphoma

  • Chronic Graft versus Host Disease


Inform your healthcare team if you are pregnant or have a plan to become pregnant. This drug (ibrutinib 150 mg) can harm your unborn baby. If you are able to become pregnant, your doctor will do a pregnancy test prior to initiating treatment with imbruvica. Do not breastfeed while on the treatment with this medicine and for 1 week after the last dose.


Consume IMBRUVICA exactly as your healthcare provider advised you to take it. Take imbruvica 1 time a day. Swallow the whole capsules/tablets with a glass of water. Do not open, cut, break, chew or crush ibrutinib capsules or tablets.


You should avoid drinking grapefruit juice, eat grapefruit, or eat Seville oranges (often used in marmalades) during the treatment.

If you consume excess medicine call your doctor or visit the nearest hospital emergency room right away.


Diarrhea is a common side effect in people who consume this medication. Plenty of fluids should be drinked while on the IMBRUVICA treatment in order to help reduce the risk of losing too much fluid (dehydration) due to the diarrhea. Let your doctor know if you have diarrhea that bothers you and does not go away.


IMBRUVICA capsules and tablets should be stored at room temperature between 68°F-77°F (20°C-25°C). Keep ibrutinib 140 mg capsules in the original container with tightly closed.
