Kineret Injection: Indication, Dosage & Availability

Kineret Overview and Indication:

Kineret (anakinra) is an interleukin-1 receptor antagonist. It is supplied in single-use, prefilled, graduated glass syringes. Each graduated syringe usually contains a 100 mg solution. The kineret injection is dispensed in a one-week (7-day) pack and used for the following uses:

  • CAPS, which is also known as Cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes to treat neonatal-onset multisystem inflammatory disease (NOMID).

  • Deficiency of interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (DIRA).

  • Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), to scale down the signs and symptoms and resist the progression of structural destruction in adult individuals with moderate to severe RA who have failed single or multiple DMARDs given. DMARDs are other than TNFis.

Dosing of Kineret:

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA): The proposed dosage for RA patients is 100 mg daily at around the same time each day. Higher doses are not liable for a higher response.

Off-label dosing of this medicinal product to treat Still’s disease and SJIA typically varies on behalf of reference, but guidelines favor a dose of 4 mg per kg per day. However, higher doses may be required.
